Doc,
Checking in: stress levels fine, sleep cycle screwy in the usual suspects way. I need a Provigil prescription filled that'll take me through to October, or jet lag is going to reign and I'm not going to stay functional for long when I start continent-hopping again this season -- can't have that, cutting throats here, etc.
Can I send Kat by to pick it up, and tentatively schedule with you for mid-October? I'll keep checking in next month.

Kat,
UPCOMING PRIORITIES:
1. Clear the remainder of the Emmy screeners out of the house. The piles should be shrinking, objectively I know they ARE shrinking, but why does it feel like they multiplied overnight AGAIN?
2. Get the Company opening night tickets to Pen as soon as possible, +5 for contingencies.
3. Remind me to call my dad ASAP about post-clerkship choices for Lucas. ACLU like he mentioned vs. staying in the DC circuit vs. ???????
Confirm itineraries for Milan/Paris FW, question mark on London, we'll see how I feel (probably yes). FITTINGS: you know what's coming up, how many there are, etc. I haven't been keeping tabs. Talk to Aimee, schedule them as compactly as possible, I'd rather do a full day or two and be half-dead from chafing by the end of it than drag things out, back in LA is preferable but flexible on this.

Lauren,
RE: London, Company -- Confirm itinerary for London, and latest possible date for getting to Venice. There's a lot to learn from Marianne and Chris, time allowing and ideally not getting in the way of their rehearsals. Also confirm the necessary meetings we talked about.
RE: Venice -- Don't bother calling Danieli to extend, changed my mind re: the market, vibe and general offering feels lackluster and tepid after Marche du Film. Michael can handle it. We'll duck out as planned and hit Telluride instead, take the weekend to regroup.
RE: TIFF / BIB -- Confirm Michael's and Pete's schedules and we'll debrief in person mid-/post-TIFF, 30 minutes max. Full distribution-side meeting in LA office when we get back, keep time slots open pending word from the Lionsgate & Roadside gents.
And get your own TIFF itinerary figured out! The usual deal: see what interests you to the best of your abilities, keep track, let me know. Your taste, I trust. We'll see about NYFF plans by the end of the month, remind me if I forget.

Madeline Miller, Circe. This one cracks me open right down the middle, more or less. Not done reading yet, but I can already tell.
"Even the most beautiful nymph is largely useless, and an ugly one would be nothing, less than nothing. She would never marry or produce children. She would be a burden to her family, a stain upon the face of the world. She would live in the shadows, scorned and reviled. But a monster," he said, "she always has a place. She may have all the glory her teeth can snatch. She will not be loved for it, but she will not be constrained either. So whatever foolish sorrow you harbor, forget it. I think it may be said that you improved her."I wanted to pull up my oooooold undergrad essays just for some sort of proof that once upon a time I could write too, but they're on a hard drive somewhere (I hope at least that I salvaged them from ten computers ago), by which I mean not here. Maybe in New York? Probably in New York. Some things I just didn't bring back to LA with me, all those years ago. Someone said to me the other day, I'd love to see you tear them a new one if you pursue a career in trial law. Sweet, even if missing all the necessary priors. That boat sailed a long time ago, and both my GMAT and LSAT expired... when? I think it was 2015. Jesus Christ. Peak intellectual capacity was writing both in the same year.
Mostly I think I just miss NY sometimes and I want a drink at Dorothy Parker's table and I think about what might have been, what I might be doing if not this. Idle thoughts, of course. I don't know what I'd do if not this, but more importantly I know why I do this. It's about 95% purely because I like the feeling of sneaking Tonys right out of Scott Rudin's hands.
Your serve.
PS. Kat's going to have your opening night tickets (+ a few extra) ready before I completely lose my mind this season.
